We’ve done a few things to make life on the road easier for us and the way that we live. Below is a list of the things that we’ve done and currently have planned to do including an upgrade we have planned for later this summer.
May 2019 | Wine Cabinet | Built wine storage rack inside the cabinet below the dinette table. | $120 | DIY |
May 2019 | Sub Woofer Storage | To make room for the wine cabinet, we moved the subwoofer to the empty space behind the fireplace. | $0 | DIY |
May 2019 | 4K Monitor | We replaced the TV above the fireplace with a 4K Monitor which Brian uses for work and on which we watch TV that we stream. | $600 | DIY |
May 2019 | Computer / Wifi Hub | A cabinet from IKEA sits in the corner on top of the fireplace and behind the 4K monitor which houses all the WiFi equipment and computers. Purchased with the door, this cabinet can be closed to secure equipment while we are on the road. | $100 | DIY |
May 2019 | Tank Fill / Clean Out System | We installed a system of PEX tubes and valves to have water always hooked up and available for cleaning out our black tank. I hate to think what this would be like without this system. | $50 | DIY |
May 2019 | Tire Pressure Monitoring System | One of the most dangerous things about driving a motorhome is having a tire blowout. We added this TST tire pressure monitoring system to our motorhome and Jeep that allows us to see the pressure and temperature of our tires while we are on the road. It also alerts us if we have low/high pressure or temperatures. | $325 | DIY |
May 2019 – January 2020 | Command Hooks | 3M I love you! From command hooks in the front for hats and jackets and in the bedroom for wear-again clothes & PJ’s to a hook in the shower strong enough to support a shower organizer, we appreciate 3M’s products. | $100 | DIY |
June 2019 | Snap Pads | These pads literally snap onto the leveling jacks on our rig providing extra cushion and protecting the ground beneath us. | $270 | DIY |
July 2019 | Antenna for Cell Phone Booster | We don’t always need it, but this cell phone antenna has come in handy when our signal was weak. By relocating the WeBoost from the back closet to the IKEA cabinet and running an antenna to the outside, our signal is greatly improved. | $150 | DIY |
Aug 2019 | Safe T Plus | We opted to have this steering control system installed. Should we ever have a tire blowout, this system should help us steer to safety and prevent complete loss of control. | $750 | Safety Plus, FMCA Rally |
Sept 2019 | Reconfigured Closet for Washer/Dryer | When we replaced the stackable washer/dryer, we gained space. In order to be able to access the machine for future repairs, we had them build a shelf for the washer. This gives us a nice sized cubby for shoes below the washer and plenty of room for laundry soap and fabric softener on top. | $500 | Dakota RV, Rapid City, SD |
Dec 2019 | Silwy Magnetic Strip | This magnetic strip is used with crystal glasses of the same brand to store glasses safely while underway. And drinking from a nice wine glass makes me happy. | $45 | DIY |
Dec 2019 | Charging Station | Using a drawer from a closet organization kit, Brian created a charging station for cell phones, hearing aids, watches, camera equipment, etc. | $75 | DIY |
Jan 2020 | Magne Shade | We opted to purchase this shade system which attaches to the front, driver, and passenger side windows to provide shade and privacy. | $1190 | DIY |
Jan 2020 | DashCam | We installed a dashcam just in case we ever need proof of our own driving. | $210 | DIY |
Aug 2020 | Theater Seats/Sofa | We placed an order for a couch/theater seating to be installed this summer. The L-shaped sofa that the coach came with isn’t very comfortable. | $3400 | Lambright Furniture |
We’ve done some other things to personalize and decorate our space. And, of course, there are lots of things that we would love to do if money and time were endless. For now, we are comfortable and our future couch upgrade will ensure that we are more comfortable than ever.
